This week marks one year since I found Universal Profiles and LUKSO.
Before my 🆙, it was Common Ground. Forever gratitude to CG.
When I enter something new - a community, a relationship, a business, really anything—I try to follow a pretty simple rule:
Give a lot more than you ask for.
Maybe 10x, maybe 100x more.
It’s partly generosity, but it’s also a boundary I set for myself - IRL and in my business ops. I don't want to walk into a place I barely understand and immediately start asking what it can do for me.
So for the past year, I’ve tried to learn.
I’ve engaged. Asked a lot of beginner questions. Supported people building things. Collected things. Staked LYX. Created assets, dropped a token, created a token.
Experimented with tools I didn't understand. Made mistakes. Met people. And slowly started understanding why Universal Profiles and LUKSO felt different to me.
I haven't really tried to sell anything.
I haven't asked for much.
But I have been building something. Scary to share.
I wrote a story. I created characters. First time. Too afraid.
It takes place at a resort, where the people working and staying there eventually discover that the property sits on an ancient site connected to what may have been the first act of hospitality.
And then things happen.
There are characters and archetypes. Some carry qualities from people I've worked beside during my life in hospitality. Some come from mentors and wonderful people I've known. And if you've been around LUKSO long enough, you might eventually recognize pieces of a few people here too.
I've started turning those archetypes and characters into digital assets.
Soon, I'm going to create the collection.
And I'm honestly a little scared to do it.
That's surprised me.
Maybe it's because I don't want to screw it up. Maybe I don't want the technology to overshadow the story. Maybe I don't want the story to misrepresent what I believe. Maybe after spending a year mostly learning and supporting other people's work, actually putting my own thing out there feels different.
Whatever it is, I'm hesitating.
And I'm going to do it anyway.
Before I do, though, I wanted to say thank you.
I've been telling my regular people IRL about this place for a year. Most of them probably still don't completely understand what I'm talking about.
But I keep telling them the same thing:
There is nothing else like Universal Profiles and LUKSO.
I've spent about 15 years joining, and searching for the intersection of hospitality, ownership, creativity, identity, technology and people.
For me, this is the last stop.
So year one was about learning, engaging, supporting and understanding.
Maybe year two is about creating.
Just like everything in life, we shall see what happens.
Sending big love to the _LUKSO community, thank you so much. _
Let's gooooooooooo!
